Frontier Pool

Privacy

Frontier Pool is a free pool and snooker game that runs in your browser. There are no accounts and no ads. This page says what the game and its server collect, why, and what you can do about it.

The short version

What we collect

Games on your own device (against the computer or two players on one screen). The game runs in your browser. When a game starts and when it ends or is abandoned, the browser sends a short anonymous report: the game type and rules, the computer level, who won and why, how long the game lasted, how many shots each side took, how shots were played (power, side spin, raised cue), and how the game ran (frame rate, the graphics level the game settled on, touch or mouse, WebGPU or WebGL, a rough window size). Practice mode is never reported.

An anonymous install id. A random value stored in your browser (see Cookies & storage). It lets us tell that several games came from the same browser. It contains nothing about you and we cannot look you up with it.

Country. Our network provider adds the country your connection comes from (for example SE). We keep the country only, never a city or an address.

Online matches. When you play online you choose a nickname. Your nickname, country flag, shots and chat messages are sent to your opponent and anyone watching the match. They live in the server's memory while the match room exists and are not written to a database or disk. We keep a record of each finished online match without nicknames or chat: the game type, who won, how it ended, how long it took and the shot counts.

Players online. While the front page or the game is open, your browser tells the server every 30 seconds that it is there, using the install id. The server keeps this in memory for 90 seconds and uses it only to show how many players are online. It is never written to the database.

Network addresses. To limit abuse, the server briefly uses your network address in memory (for example to rate-limit requests). It does not write addresses to the statistics database. The companies that deliver the site, such as our network provider and hosting provider, process requests and may keep ordinary access logs under their own policies.

Why we collect it

For people in the EU and UK, the legal basis is providing the service you asked for (online play) and our legitimate interest in running and improving a free game with minimal anonymous statistics.
